Cute!
My daughter has a 5 month old English bulldog. He is quite the mess!! So different from her laid-back ShihTzu that she had for so long. He looks like a minature, fat COW.
So glad you went the rescue route, so many doggies need good homes!

All of the dogs we have ever had have been rescues.
Nellie had one litter that all died so she was useless to them.
She was sold. Circumstances then lead her to be put up for adoption. So many were inquiring until they found out she was spayed. Again people just looking to breed her.
Wh applied. We visited with her.
She seems to be settling in. She's still hesitant to explore the entire house. She wants to play with the cat, cat does NOT feel the same. Nellie isn't impressed with the ferrets. She loves to sleep on the sofa even though she has a huge bed lol

Woah Nellie!!!
She is too cute. She will take a bitnof time to settle in. There's a breakdown somewhere that shows how long the process is for them to feel safe and accept this is home. I think it's 90 day or more.
My one cat still hates our 3yo lab. She will hiss and growl at hom when he is near her. But she will invade his space and the pitch a fit. He just stares at her like what's wrong with you.
Congrats on the new family member. Thats a lucky dog.

One thing we have noticed is that she's ok in the living room where it's carpet but she's now refusing to go into the kitchen. We had to bring her food and water to the edge where floor meets carpet for her to eat and drink.
Where she came from there was floor and carpet and we saw her on both.
She will walk across the floor to go outside, she just won't go venture on her own.
We will be going out to get her sized for a harness since she can get out of her collar.
She's good about showing us she has to go out.
It's funny. She has moments of intense play and zoomies and then it's nap time.

This breed of dog falls asleep quickly! We've seen that with my daughter's dog. Just FLOP down and fall asleep right in the middle of playing and zoomies.

Congrats!
Two snippets of advice:
Use positive reinforcement rather than the old wrapped newspaper approach to training and discipline. Like when a dog returns after wandering off and you shout and punish it they don’t understand that it’s a consequence of what they did. What they do understand is that you are happy that they came back, and they got a treat.
With kids in the house: Use a certain area (we use a crate) that is the dog’s space. Once there the dog is to be left in peace. No petting, no pulling out… My lab has his crate and if he’s in there the grandkids can entice him out with treats, but if he doesn’t respond it’s because he wants time out.
"If, therefore, any be unhappy, let him remember that he is unhappy by reason of himself alone." Epictetus

The rolled newspaper never works so no we would never.
She isn't exactly a puppy. She's 3. And doesn't seem to have any basic training. She pulls badly. So a no pull harness will be purchased. I'll also start her on basic commands.
She followed me into the kitchen when I got up to make coffee, so no clue why she won't do that during the day.
I was thinking of crate training her. She seemed to claim the loveseat as her new bed. That's where she takes her naps and sleeps at night. The kids know not to bug her when she's sleeping.
Wr had put her bed in the corner snd she wouldn't go near it. I moved the bed out in front of the sofa and she laid there for a bit but decided the sofa is move comfy.

We’ve had to put area rugs from our bedroom to the living room and back door because Sammy apparently believes he will Die A Very Horrible Death if he steps onto the bare floor. 😂

My daughter's English Bulldog SNORTS like a pig and after drinking water, he burps so loud! She got him at 8 weeks old and he was no problem to crate train. I think this breed has to have their own 'spot' in the home. A place to call their own. All my daughter has to say is ...'time to go in your crate' and he waddles in there. (he waddles a lot) We took him to be fitted for a harness and he hates it, refuses to walk with the harness on! Just lays down and spreads out all four legs and looks at my daughter. So she's going to send him for leash training. I hope you have better luck with the harness.

Well no issues with coming onto the floor today.
She snorts too. Snores good. Also does that under her breath woof. It's so cute.
I hope she takes to the harness well. Her collar just isn't secure.

If she does get freaky about the floor again, you might just leave the bowls in the kitchen instead of bringing them to her. Since it is her food, I’m guessing she would eventually "venture out" to eat.
She is so cuddly, soft looking. I respect your kids’ restraint when she is curled up sleeping. That’s a time I LOVE to snuggle with them.
So glad she is finding her place in her new home.
