There is a poster that has a tendency to start his posts in JFO with the statement "This is the WORST case I have seen all my time on this site".
The same poster tends to offer acceptable advice. Yet has started at least 2-3 posts in the last year or so with that statement… Even in instances where I can’t really see anything that warrants that particular instance being excessively vile or bad.
I think I know why he does this. I think the poster thinks that by shocking the OP they might react. Only… I think that if I was back in the shoes when I discovered the infidelity and had the need to find an online forum and then even had the courage to finally share… being told that even to a group 50k strong MY marriage, MY spouse and MY situation was one of the worst ever… Won’t really give me a sense that I will survive.
I think the same message – you need to take this seriously and nothing will change unless you make things change – can be gotten across in kinder, more considerate AND a more likely to succeed kind of way.
